Baby Projects

I gotta say, I'm loving where I'm at right now.  Everything is about anticipation for this baby boy.  Sure, there's a lot of worry...Will I be a good parent?  Are the birth parents really going to go through with it?  What if I drop him on his head?

But mostly, it's just pure excitement.  And scrambling to get things in order, because of course the baby will care if there are an appropriate number of white trees on the gray walls in his woodland themed room.  Yes, that was a touch sarcastic!  Anywho, Thad has painted the nursery a mid tone gray, set up the crib and lugged up the rocker.  I've stripped and primed a dresser--hopefully it'll get it's first coat of green paint tonight.  We have an order for three rolls of vinyl (navy blue, mid tone orange and white) coming in on Wednesday to go with the gray, black and lime green rolls of vinyl we already have.  But more on all of that later.

What I really want to tell you about are my other baby projects...the ones I've been doing in my craft room (or on break at work, or on the commute).  With hooks.

I just completed a couple of sock monkey hats--one for me and one for baby.  The one that I made for me was kind of a mistake/okay-I'll-just-roll-with-it kind of thing.  Don't worry, I'm not going to be one of those mom's that has to dress the same as their baby.  But this hat is soooo cute!  I got the pattern off of Etsy from Lizzziee, and they're really easy to crochet up.  They really didn't take any time.  In addition to the sock monkey pattern, I purchased three other patterns: a football hat (I just started on a newborn football hat for a gift for a friend who's expecting), a Mickey Mouse hat, and a Hello Kitty hat.  I may have to make a big pile of these to keep around as gifts--cute and kitschy hats for a baby will never go out of style, right?  Right?

I have also purchased crochet patterns from InnerHooker before.  I whipped up her owl beanie really fast and easily, and it's super cute!  I would recommend patterns from either one of these sellers.*

*Please note: I am not being paid to "advertise".  These are simply patterns that I've used successfully and liked.

  1. I think you need to make Thad wear the big one with the baby. How cute would that be, father - son sock monkey caps?
